Well simple enough really - Any news on a Demo?
i.e. will there be one and when can we expect to see it?
Any news on a Demo?

This is what I reckon too. My thought is that without the key, you get roughly what the journalists got access to for the previews - i.e. vs cpu only, statue and koth modes. And maybe spectator mode in others. Maybe. Note - this is all me guessing - no responsibility taken by me for this info being wrong, or indeed correct!

I can't believe a demo has not been released yet, do they seriously expect people to blindly buy their stuff just because they managed to design a few decent games in the recent past? Eh, they ain't no Kojima Productions, unfortunately. Had I liked the demo I would've prolly pre-ordered the game in timely fashion, I think I'll just forget about it though.
As it's an extension of Darwinia into multiplayer, I suppose darwinia demo is sort of a multiwinia demo. Admittedly, there may be a few changes.

If it's anything like Defcon the demo client and the full game client are the same programme, so the demo will be released when the game is released. Patience is a virtue, and all that. It's not like the price is going to shoot up.

Actually, a developer's track record is pretty good basis for a purchase decision IMHO. I've seen too many piles of buggy crap with impressive demos and good games with no demo at all. They can certainly expect me to buy on that basis as I already have!

I mostly agree with you, but to be honest, after being wowed by Uplink and Darwinia, I was a bit disappointed in Defcon. Not that it was a bad game, it just didn't seem my type of game. I haven't played online yet, though, since I can only win against one bot, more than that and I still get utterly destroyed.
But since I loved Darwinia, I think a multiplayer version of it will be awesome.
If you haven't tried the Darwinia demo, try it. If you like it, and are into multiplayer games, I'm sure you'll like Multiwinia.
If you don't, then wait until MW comes out, and try it then.

You are entirely correct. They ain't Kojima Productions. They haven't got their arses so far up their heads they can see what they had for breakfast, for starters. They also don't over-charge for piles of existentialism crossed with average-to-good sneaking and giant robots.
