Darwinia as a Gift on the pre-order

Postby HostFat » Fri Sep 12, 2008 1:22 am

I've already wrote this on the Steam forum:
I'll really like Darwinia as a Gift ( for someone else ) if the user already own the game, can you make it? ( VALVe already did it with the Orange box ... )

If you owned Darwinia already I'm 100% sure you can gift it but I not sure about gifting it if you don't own it.

Why? This has never been possible with any games on Steam except for HL2/Ep1 if you went on to purchase the Orange Box. Why do you suppose that this might be any different?

Sorry, I was thinking that when you have 2 copies of a game - you then have 1 to give away but I guess not, my bad.

I'm in the same boat - I bought Darwinia + Uplink a while ago on Steam. Now if I pre-order Multiwinia I'll have an extra Darwinia. It'd be nice to be able to gift away the extra Darwinia to a friend.

Valve would be the ones to ask, not IV really.

Couldn't do it with the IV anthology so I highly doubt you can do it with the Darwinia + Multiwinia pack, which really really sucks. Things may have changed but as said before The orange box was the only pack you could split up everything else had to be gifted as a whole or not at all.

Just for cross reference, in the relevant Steam forum thread,

I've also just fallen into this trap. Pre-ordered Multiwinia+Darwinia pack in steam expecting that I'd have the extra copy of Darwinia to give away, but no doesnt look like it.

I've sent a support ticket to Steam so hopefully they'll get back to me about it and maybe do it.

I'm tempted to see if I can get a refund if its not changed, as I'm getting really sick of the dodgy tactics they are doing on Steam.
