Steam

Postby 007Bistromath » Fri Sep 05, 2008 12:45 am

I figured this would be the five hundredth time you've been asked, but a search turned up no meaningful results.

This is quite important to me. I notice that pre-orders are live, and that's great. The thing is, I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that if there will be a Steam release, I'd very strongly prefer to wait for that. It is a delivery method which I support greatly and which I find very convenient for technical reasons, as well as that the friends/networking aspect of the program is a significant boon to any multiplayer-focused game, such as this will be. I have all three of Introversion's previous games on Steam, despite the fact that I had already purchased Uplink on disc previously. They are a dev I profoundly respect, and if there will not be a Steam release, I'll buy Multiwinia anyway, though I'm not as sure about pre-ordering. It would just be very helpful to any decision I make to know one way or another; the best I've seen here is that there is "no news" about it.

Will Multiwinia be on Steam?

Because of the previous mega successes with steam, I think chances are high that Multiwinia will come to steam at some point, but it will depend on the specifics of the deals with valve etc. when that will be (ie, it might not be release day, or it might be, who knows)

Multiwinia will certainly come out on Steam... the trailers are already there

Yeah trailers on Steam already, so I'm sure they'd be selling it then not just hosting trailers.

Heheh, it's been there for at least a couple of weeks. But yes, not meaning to offend, 007Bistromath, but a little research wouldn't go astray.
Gentlemen, you can't fight in here: this is the War Room!

Are you suggesting that people actually attempt to answer their questions for themselves?! MADNESS!

Another question that's probably been asked a million times (but I didn't find it in an initial search): If you buy the limited edition tin, will the key you get work with the Steam version?

It should also be noted that if you buy the regular version from IV, you will get no Steam key. The only way to get a Steam key is to buy it from Valve.

*facepalm*

I looked for it just yesterday and couldn't find it, can't imagine how I'd have missed it. I just figured something as big as this would get its own News update, I guess.

I don't know if there's any point in me buying Darwinia now that Multiwinia is coming out because I'll be to addicted to it to even notice Darwinia.
