How many players can be in a match of multiwinia?

Can their be team battles and free for alls and such?

I haven't found any of this info online.

How many colors?

I know Green, Red, I suppose Blue and Yellow are also playable... but Purple is too? (Byron just mentioned the Purpleites...)

Though there are four players, how many colors are available?

Or do we get to pick them from a gradient?
