Hexagons + Turn-based warfare = Win.

Like starfleet command scratching the space-sim itch, I'd like something to scratch the need for turn-based strategy games... the only game that came close was Missionforce: Cyberstorm back in the 90's. Hex grids and simple make the prospects even lovelier.

I'd like to see what becomes of this.

Turn-based tile games are a bit too common. What about real-time tile games?

OK, so what's the hook?

Stop teasing us, what makes this hex different from the rest?

Cyberstorm 2 tried this. They had a system where players could either use turn-based or real-time gameplay but on the same grid of 'cells' (squares over hexagons). Cyberstorm 2 was generally accepted as being a poor sequel, it seems. Personally I'd rather play the original for the hexes and turn-based-ness.

That they won't release it if it isn't fun? (or until it is made fun)

Please please please yes. Probably my favorite genre of game... tactical fighting. I've been trying for months to find my copy of Final Fantasy Tactics... there are no good alternatives. Or, very few...

And yes, hexes are better than squares.

I dunno. Disgaea and the other Nippon Ichi games are all very good, and Jeanne D'Arc on the PSP is very enjoyable too. Not a huge range, granted, but there are alternatives out there.

Also, I just wanted to clear something up here; this probably isn't going to be a big Introversion release. I'm not saying it definately won't be, but there are certainly no current plans to do it. This is basically just something I'm doing myself, and for the time being at least, I wouldn't be expecting anything more than a small prototype release some time in the future. I woudn't take any of this to be 100% set in stone, but that's the way things are currently.

This was my no questions asked favorite game for about 2 years. I still have the original CD, can't wait to see what comes of this.
