And of course I was referring to this one.

Well I blame the slow school internet then, as it took so long before it understood the HTML for the flash object that I made it stop after that which means it didn't load the comments box.

*too lazy to quote*

I'm hoping to get (or, rather build) a gaming computer as soon as school is over.

I think you should have an option to have a flat or spherical "desktop". Why? 1. Jaggies. 2. I want to have a spherical monitor and still have the game look right. Roffel. A lower-class kid can dream, can't he?
Now known as "Zander", apparently.

Long-time listener, first-time caller ...

I think that the curvy windows are too cool not to investigate further, even in you have to make them optional.

I'd first try putting the user inside a torus rather than a sphere. That way you don't end up with awkward north and south poles, or windows orientated differently from their neighbours, but you can still wrap both up-down and left-right and have those great 3D effects.

If that all gets a bit much, a cylinder or simply a flat plane that wraps both ways still work.

Also, you should consider putting the axis of the torus or cylinder horizontal - I suspect players might find scrolling longer distances up-down more natural when they get used to it.

Okay, I'm overcomplicating things, but it's a shame to let a good opportunity to do so go!
