Well I, and my game programming friends (admittedly only 2 others who I know IRL), all program with C# because of XNA, which of course is easy to use for people who've never done any Gfx programming before and runs on the xbox

Yah, C#/XNA is a great framework for getting something up and running fast... though I personally I prefer perl/allegro. Slow as hell at runtime, but very fast to get a working concept. Which is usually as far as I get.

Indeed, though I wouldn't be surprised if XNA is ported to Mono sometime soon... it's feasible considering how far Mono and wine have come, though not worth it when there are [L]GPLed libraries available that are almost as easy to work with
