In honor of the Flying Hamster, I think that IV should invest in a fitting company mascot: a Sugar Glider!

by googling for 'php image rotating script' and various combinations of the above words until I found one that worked to my liking. Alternatively, use NeoThermic's but I can't remember where it is.

EDIT: here

You have to do what shinygerbil suggests, but you also have to have access to your own domain, and the ability to edit .htaccess. As your current avatar is hosted on imageshack, I am going to go out on a limb, and suggest that you probably won't be able to set up a rotating avatar. Hell, I have my own domain, but Yahoo! hosting sucks, so I can't edit .htaccess. On the other hand, Yahoo! hosting is cheap as hell, so I am not complaining too loudly.

ignoring the mild dig at imageshack, I do have my own domain, but probably can't edit .htaccess :P

let me check... edit:: nope, although I have a few other domains that I don't use that I can check out...

On my poor Windows-based server, I'm able to do something called Virtual Directories which accomplishes the same thing - I have a "directory" called avatar.png, and it's set to redirect to /pics/avatar/avatar.php, or something like that. Virtual directories don't have to be directories :P

It may be me, but what other possibilities did you have in mind?

I wonder if Artman is alluding to the practice of dropping out of/shutting down DefCon games in an impolite fashion.

:?:

Well, one of the problem in many RTS games is the endgame: 2 teams fighting while the rest of players have to sit and wait.
I'm glad Defcon didn't have that problem. :) Hope Multiwinia won't have that either.

well, it turns out that I have some hosting, which can do php, but I can't edit .htaccess :(

...

does anyone else fancy hosting a rotating sig for me? I'll host the images, I just need somewhere for the script :P

I've done a quick search on google and this page mentions a .htaccess-less solution. Don't know if it's a valid one though:

http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/archive/ ... 66329.html

By the way, if you have enough control over your server you could just make a small script that would overwrite the file you pointed your avatar too.
Let's say you point to www.mydomain.com/avatar.jpg ; have a physical location for that be on /whatever/avatars/avatar.jpg ; just create a subdir called 'rotation' (or something else) which will contain the number of pictures you want to display.

Your script would then cp /whatever/avatars/rotating/avatar1.jpg /whatever/avatars/avatar.jpg after selecting a file at random & be executed at fixed intervals.

(notice that whether the path is C:\progam files\avatars\ or /path/to/avatars is inconsequential for this discussion. There are ways to schedule jobs both on *nix and windows ;) )

But seriously, Subversion, even at this stage, generates more realistic streets than it should create and glad that they're not all straight as they aren't in real life. :o
There are still, of course, few improvements that could be done on buildings like at the moment, there are a bit too many thin triangular buildings and buildings in residential zone need improvement too.
But still, they will be improved. Quite soon I think. :)
