Notes from the Slippery Slope, Part 1
I said it some time ago in another post, but I think Introversion's fourth game should be called:
IV
or something with that in it.
How about being "too cool" and just call the game:
Introversion
After all, bands will self-title an album. So what if it's not your first.
Here are just some other quick ideas:
RTS
Infoscape
1011
F*** Publishers

Reminds me of what I thought when I read about their past financial issues.
The next game at that time really should have been called
(H)IV: this time we're positive .
I just thought of something.
I'm thinking back to Bioware's "World Design Contest" and how it got me to purchase Neverwinter Nights.
What Introversion should do is hold a "Name Our Next Game" contest. The contest could be where the people who give the top five best names for Multiwinia could win some Introversion merchandise. Obviously, it would have to be stated that winning the contest does not guarantee that the name of the game will be that name.
If nothing else, it would give people an excuse to check of Introversion's web site.

Has anyone suggested anything with Galapagos, or some word-pun thereof? could possibly be a good name, considering it was where Darwin concieved his theories iirc, and it has quite a few different species - also, the 'maps' in Darwinia is set on islands.
Possibly something like Digipagos.
Though the name Digital Selection or just Selection as wwarnick suggested recently is quite good imho - especially if you take into the account the small essay/tidbit on the subject of choosing a name someone wrote elsewhere/earlier :X
Edit: Ah there we have it, I have to agree with it, thinking of the right name would be vastly easier/more obvious if we/introversion knew what the whole background for the game was. It seems the concept is somewhat left at "a multiplayer version of Darwinia" and thoughts for a name for the thing might be somewhat impaired by it, *shrug*.

Devolution
After seeing the vids of Multiwinia, I wouldn't say those little guys are evolving, and they certainly aren't up for centralised government.

Why would you say that?

Red pill or blue pill - is devolution real?
Darwinia must be real somewhere in space and time, if you think the universe is infinite
I just like how Devolution sounds - sort of related to evolution and darwinism, yet it really means removing central control and allowing local action. Seems quite appropriate to the gameplay.
Also, there are not many google hits on Devolution related to computers or video games, the .net, .com and .co.uk domains seem to be "under-used" and maybe obtainable, and most importantly, it begins with 'D', just like Darwinia and Defcon!

That depends whether you eblieve an infinite expanse of the physical realm.crisb wrote:Darwinia must be real somewhere in space and time, if you think the universe is infinite![]()
Or an infinite expanse of absolutely nothing...
Whoever you vote for, the government wins.

Devolution sounds actually very good :p It's got a 'D' like you said, sounds like evolution, but in a negative kind of sense... but it's war, so it fits the scenario![/b]

In that case, Star Wars must be real too. I think George Lucas was on to something.
