Postcard from GDC, Part 2

Postby Chris » Fri Mar 09, 2007 1:30 am

It's something of an IGF tradition that the winners of the Grand Prize one year get to return next year, deliver a short speech, and then present the award to this years winners. Since we won the IGF grand prize last year, that honour fell to Introversion in 2007. Tom and Mark took to the stage with several not-so-subtle bits of advertising attached to their clothing and did their thing. Click below for the video of what the guys said.

Our congratulations go out to the guys at Bit Blot - they walked away with this years IGF grand prize and $20,000 in prize money for their game Aquaria. Their game does look particularly lovely and I can't wait to play it.

Gamespot have the video of the entire awards ceremony - click here to watch it. The video you want is called "2007 game developers choice awards". Mark and Tom do their bit about 35 minutes into the show.

I'd make one myself, except it would offend the people at my church. They're heavily religious.

How did I know Tom was going to have something on the back of his jacket? Brilliant advice, but I have to wonder, who's decision was it to censor the last piece of advice? :)

Aquaria reminds me of Echo the Dolphin, the very first one for some reason. Nice music and concept. I think I'll get it.

Nice advice on the videos. :P

Yeah, I thought that when I saw the first trailer a while back. Looks good. I hear they've been dubbed as "the new Introversion" already - but I don't think they can compete ;D

I'm going to get it too, kinda fell in love with it when I saw their latest trailer on Gametrailers. Though, just to be sure, I'm probably going to try a demo first - which they have said they're planning on doing :S

How on earth can a tie with a little splat flat dude on it offend anyone?

I dunno, maybe they would think it would mutilate the cross or something...

And I might look into Aquaria. It looks rather interesting.
