The place to hang out and talk about totally anything general.

Yes exactly! I like the way the customization is shaping up.

jackdapantyrip wrote:Also adding mass to the projectiles so you could bend shots around / put smaller projectiles in orbit around the 'massive' shot could be interesting.

Now THAT is fantastic.

Also, is there going to be a tech tree? It might be too cliched. Maybe each player could select their technologies at the start.

I like how this is shaping up.

Didn't see the point in trying to be witty. Thought it'd be a lost cause.

Thanks for the encouragement. :P

An additional thought I've been playing around with ( separate from the chess )

Image

How about spheres on the pa grid and the only mechanic you use to fight the other player is mass shifting of the spheres so you can bend space to fight your opponent.

Also be able to control the spin of spheres but not move as fast? Some cool variables could be tied into this also. :)

Like increasing mass so much it creates a wormhole through the 'bottom' of the map..

Very cool indeed! (and that's a word I use sparingly). I've always loved cosmology.

As a hobby I practice Western medieval fencing, a very interesting and gritty but not very well-known martial art. It's actually very elegant and, at least in the German school I study, is all based on principles of stepping around your opponent's defence and going weak where he is strong. I've always though if somehow this theory could be implemented in an abstract strategy game it would be fascinating.

Medieval fencing a very cool hobby. I've seen a few guys locally that do that and it always looks very intense. Probably not to the standards of a professional school though?

It reminded me of a kickstarter I saw that you might be interested in.

Because it's a thread started by Jack and all his posts feel like that.

Wow, it's been AGES since I last saw one of these.

Also, hi Deepsmeg! You probably don't remember me since I've got 32 posts over the course of eleven years... Hence why it's been ages since I last saw an Idiot Reply Form.

Oh, good, I'm not the only one who is bewildered by this thread. I think Jackdapantyrip is the only one here who knows what he's talking about, and Colytic is trolling him?

While "thought experiments regarding variables in strategy games" is an interesting topic, I fail to see what it has to do with PA (unless you're talking about something besides Prison Architect which I actually think you are) or with chess. It looks like you're missing an introductory sentence or two explaining what the heck you're talking about.

I feel like I've stumbled into the middle of an ongoing conversation, even though I started at the first post of the thread.

This is exactly right, if my understanding is correct... But did you have to ruin it?
