With only three people left, it was clear that one wrong move means the wolves win, and the entire town would be annihilated! Hoping he makes the right decision, zjoere takes out his concealed bow and shoots it at shinygerbil! And out drop....

Five stacks of iron. Shinygerbil was a Human!

Before he has a chance to react, zjoere finds himself on the ground, and ynbniar finds himself eating quite a full meal tonight....

Wolves win!

After filling up his stomach, the lone wolf finally has a chance to grieve over his lost brother. Bert had once given him a very special gift. It was an egg - a dragon's egg, as he explained enthusiastically that night.

He has decided to enshrine it forever.

I'll admit, I was already expecting the game to end like this :P

Also, I think this was the first time I died day/night one. That was an interesting experiment.

I had thought I'd be found out as I pushed the laika_rus lynch while zjoere and shinygerbil were worried it was too obvious. Was planning to vote shiny as being a quiet wolf, with zjoere the powerful special.

Xocrates was eaten as he can sniff out wolfs, mas because I thought he would see through my vote for laika_rus.

You all tasted yummy

Remind me to not RP as madman next time :) Shame. The rules looked plenty interesting.

I should have probably done/said something more. :P

There was really not much to go on for most of the game; I was pretty much going to toss a coin to decide who to vote. I couldn't tell if ynbniar was a wolf trying to look like the very model of an analytical human, or just a human thinking out loud for our benefit.

NEXT GAME!

I now have Gilbert and Sullivan in my head - I am the very model of an analytical human...

Okay, so! I said I'll make a detailed post so here it is...

Day One - bert_the_turtle and ynbniar - Wolves - When a human is eaten by the wolves, ynbniar gets to keep that player's power. To make it a little bit less unfair between them, I gave bert the deciding vote - if they both vote differently at night, bert's vote wins.
In practice this didn't exactly happen because bert got himself lynched the first day.

Night One - Xocrates - Emeralds - can purchase one lynched human's powers from the villagers.
Xocrates ended up getting eaten the first night, and ynbniar had this to say:
ynbniar wrote:
NeatNit wrote:Purchase must be announced publicly in bold, can only be done during the day, and you can only make one.

Err...how do I publicly buy items without revealing I'm a wolf? :?

ynbniar gets to keep all the powers of the eaten humans. The catch, of course, is that some of them must be revealed on use, and if you use more than one you are undoubtedly a wolf. This would have worked nicer with a bigger number of players, and ynbniar didn't even get a chance to use it once in the end.

Day Two - Laika_rus - Diamond Armor - can survive his first wolf attack.
For some reason, everybody ganged up on him during day two. I haven't a clue why - he was telling the truth, he did vote for bert at the last moment before redacting it. I am not quite sure what went on there, and wasn't sure whether I should intervene. I did count the votes exactly as they were at 10:00 PM (my timezone), so yes, he did cast the deciding vote against bert. There was plenty of evidence which Laika pointed towards. Could someone clear this up?
When he realized his defeat, he PM'd me asking his character to escape the village and avoid death. Normally I'd be fine with this, but it would interfere with the rules - every lynched's item must be available for sale. So I made something up!
NeatNit wrote:The village is surrounded by a lava river, a merciless forest, an enormous desert and a gigantic entrance to a cave - filled with skeletons.

You are overcome by fear.

Night Two - Mas Tnega - Saddle - Immune to his first lynch.
The Guardian Angel actually voted for Mas the first night, but on the second night preferred to play it safe and vote for himself. Have guardian angels ever successfully fended off an attack?
After ynbniar ate Mas, I realized that if he's given lynch immunity, he basically wins the game automatically. So I gave him a choice - he could choose to take an Apple or a Saddle, and I didn't tell him what either meant. He picked the Apple, which was a useless decoy. :). I felt a bit violated that I changed the rules at the last moment, but felt it had to be done. The show must go on after all!
Later I realized I forgot about the vigilante and none of this mattered.

For anyone interested, the idea was that the chief of the villagers loves riding pigs, and would spare the life of whoever gave him a saddle. :P

Day Three - shinygerbil - Iron - Guardian Angel
As stated earlier, he defended Mas Tnega the first night but took the safer bet the second night and defended himself. I was astounded - I had never thought anyone would defend someone other than himself the first night. Too bad he didn't keep it going.

Endgame - zjoere - Bow & Arrow - Vigilante
zjoere seems to have just flipped a coin to decide who to shoot the third day. He made the wrong choice, and shiny took an arrow to the knee head. zjoere won the wolves the game.

I was at first hoping for a larger turnout, but even with the few players we had it was a lot of fun. I think the rules turned out very balanced, which makes me a bit proud
It's interesting seeing things from outside for a change, but I can't wait to be a participant in the next game!

No one seems to realize, but what you see in that screenshot above is the actual previously-lost dragon egg in the Introversion Minecraft server, and it's actually the only reason I started this TWG!

As I recall Laika_rus voted after the deadline as did Bert...this late vote was for Mas as was Bert's and neither of these votes counted. Since Bert was revealed as a wolf it was fairly easy to smear Laika_rus by saying he voted (albeit late) for a known human at the last second. Mas went along with this, zjoere and shinygerbil weren't sure but with nothing else to go on Laika_rus was deader than fried chicken.

But he did vote for bert within the time, and changing the vote after the deadline was in no way a reliable strategy to be expected from a wolf.

I may have been biased, but to me it made no sense that everyone ganged up.

The point is that it looked very much like, or it could be made to look , that Bert and Laika_rus didn't realize the time had run out and were last min voting, a very wolfy thing to do. Laika_rus late vote looked like a vote to save Bert (a slavering wolf monster) and lynch Mas (perfectly respectable member of society).

Laika_rus made things worse by pointing back to his Bert vote, it just emphasized the late switch in favour of a wolf. There was no evidence to support the theory that Laika_rus knew his late vote for Mas wouldn't count.

His lynching the next day was inevitable.

I still could have sworn it said "duck" in bold. That notwithstanding, basically what ynbniar said. laika_rus switched like fucking crazy in the last few minutes and it seemed like incompetent lupine chaos and for what was left of the posts to look at, it really did just look like everyone had 1 vote each and bert got RNG'd to death. I don't put too much stock in GM fluff.

Had Laika_rus' later switch counted, the only thing that would have changed is ynbniar killing me on night 2 not being a complete gamebreaker.

Guess redacting away my vote for bert was confusing enough. Still it was a silly lynch.
