I've got an idea

Postby Captain Jean-Luc Picard » Sun Feb 24, 2013 5:05 pm

There is a spider brood somewhere neaer my house. From time to time when I catch spiders - I keep those alive in little tuba wear containers and drop in crickets or whatever random feeder bugs I find at the local petsmart. Anyway, I recently have erected a spider battle arena out of cardboard and sugar cubes. I have about 22 spiders in surplus and plan to make them do one on one combat in a tournament of epic proportions. The loser is devoured by the winner and the winner becomes stronger. He then lives on to do battle against the next opponent. Whichever spider is left standing after the other 21 have died will go on to the final round. There is a prey mantis I bought at the vivarium named Charley. The final spider gladiator will do battle with Charley the mantis. If the spider actually manages to beat Charley he will be declared the king of spider land and promptly flushed down the toilet afterwards.

You should have the preying mantis take on a camel spider.
Yes, that is a penguin with rabies. Deal with it.

I say you are alone with finding and that you contributed to it regardless.

If you have been collecting spiders from my mother's bedroom then you will only have collected common house spiders, Tegenaria domestica. They may vary in shape and colour, but are by far the most common spiders found in homes. They are also docile things, unlikely to fight.

If these are the spiders you have, then you are woefully unaware of spider behviour and / or too lazy or incapable of educating yourself. If you have not been collecting spiders from my mother's bedroom but instead somewhere else where you are likely to find aggressive species then you are lying about your whereabouts.

In either case, I expected much better from the best captain of star fleet.

I was asking Cooper42 where he had seen the OP state that the spiders were coming from inside of a house, but fair enough I should have been more specific.

Not at all.
But I better not share my exact thoughts on this and the OP, I want to linger here for a while longer...
