This is one main reason I don't usually like many phpBB boards, it tends to happen at a lot of popular places... but I've had to learn to just move around it *shrugs*

Upgrading to phpBB3 and enabling ReCaptcha will keep new spammers from registring

They use standard mail accounts like google mail.

One could try to find out where their store/warehouse is in the real world, then go there and politely explain to them what is being done on their behalf.
