This has gone far enough... Can anything be done to stop this?

Since this board is running on phpBB2 other than very active moderation and banning the heck out of the spammers, which is essentially a waste of everyone's time, the best thing that comes to mind is ZBBlock which is a php wrapper designed to stop exploits and hacks but also prevents spammer registration by comparing IPs to the stopforumspam database and then blocking the client from the registration/login pages.

Perhaps there have been significant changes since last you checked, I've been using it for about 10 months or so on several forums that used to get the living hell spammed out of them, even getting through recaptcha, and since I started using it I haven't seen a single spammer.NeoThermic wrote:From memory ZBBlock is quite terrible. I'll have a proper look tonight, but I might have a better solution hanging around.
Also, what spam?

Had a proper check, it's still as awful as before. It's based on a blacklist, of which at that point it becomes a game of "how many ways can I bypass the list of signatures". I had a quick look and I can think of at least five ways to bypass their SQL injection filters.
The script appears to be a blacklist check, both file-provided and lookup-provided and a few word/domain based blocks. As a quick devilish check, 'kitchen' isn't in their blocked words (because, you know, kitchens).
Scripts like ZZBlock are no real protection; they're just attempts at being secure. Their scope is limited, and the code it uses is horrific. Also, christ the opcode count of just one request... I'd rather stick with manually checking the forums!
