we should open a new topic about world`s gas prices. lol

Naah, gas prices and Iran go hand in hand.

Forever Young wrote:edit:i said something wrong. in spring or at latest in summer next year Iran will be only weeks away from a bomb.
that means, Israel has a timetable around 6 months for a strike. maybe they are going to strike in spring together with the USA and other nations(France, Britain, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Qatar,...)

I would imagine it would happen before then end of this year, but after the elections. If Obama gets elected, he doesn't have to worry about 2016, so he can do whatever. If Romney gets elected, he'll want to take action, period. Waiting till the spring will just give Iran more and more time to prepare for the inevitable strike.

That's part the point. If he says the deadline is in the spring, the closer and closer you get to the deadline, the more ramped up Iran's security will become as the chance of a strike goes up exponentially. In fact, publically stating a deadline, then waiting it out till the last few seconds could, and indeed might, cause Iran to strike first. In other words, Iran has there hand on the gun now, in the spring, fingers will be put on the trigger, the closer to the 'deadline', the further back the trigger gets pulled.

yeah, correct!
also intersting is that:
Oren also warned that the international community might not be able to detect an Iranian drive for nukes. "It can do so in a small room, somewhere, put this bomb together," he said. "This is a country half the size of Europe. There is a good chance you're not going to know where that room is."

Netanyahu said nearly the same about Iran`s territory size yesterday.

The head of Iran's air and ballistic missile units, General Farzad Esmaili, told the ISNA news agency on Friday that if a military attack is launched against Iran's nuclear facilities, "the enemies will not escape alive" AFP reported.

Bullshit, Iranian air tech is probably in the lower 30 of the world. Their "air force" consists of planes from the days of the Shah, while Israel has F-16s, F-15, etc. The SAMs would give them trouble, but even so, a strike into Iran would have maybe 20-30% casualties. The big problem would be fuel, since they have to fly low to avoid both Saudi and Iranian radar. Also, Israel's air force is about 800 fighters and bombers, which is easily triple or quadruple that of Iran.

They don't, I'm fairly certain Persian pride won't let them buy a weapon from another country. They would want to make it by themselves. Then again, I could be wrong.

Well if they dont now they will soon. Intel coming from Pakistan back in the day suggested that A.Q.Khan sold P2 Centrifuge designs to the Iranians, this was before America raided his compound, confiscated all his equipment, and put him under house arrest.

Image

interesting side note, that was a great day for the IAEA, they had been trying to secure Khan ever since he stole those designs from the sweeds.

Another thing to note is that currently it is believed that there is a Saudi cargo plane on an airstrip in Pakistan. In that airplane are several suitcases with several ten million dollars. Next to that airplane is a small building. In that building there are five 1 MT nuclear weapons. In case of an emergency, the crew of the Saudi airplane would immediately buy the five nuclear weapons from Pakistan. Therefore, Saudi Arabia can claim currently that they have no nuclear weapons. However, they can buy them whenever they want to.
