Hello, it's been a while. Do some of you still play this?

It appears we have a pyromaniac on the lose. Some of my buildings have burned down and there was an attempt on the DG as well.



This was clearly done with lava since there's a tower of cobble going all the way down.



My houses near the spawn look like this:




Sure, it could have been lightning, but I find that unlikely.

Who does this kind of stuff? Would it be a good idea to massively purge the whitelist?

Bummer about the vandalism. I saw the lighthouse and thought it was lightning again, though someone must have repaired the Darwinian.

On another note, if a reset ever occurs again, I'd like to propose a highway system. In my worlds I use half cobble or half brick and place it at the bottom half of level 66. This prevents mobs from spawning in darkness without torches ( I've begun using the same system in most of my structures for the same reason) and being set at level 66 provides enough space to walk underneath when crossing frozen water when not on the highway. I Use three wide for interstates when traversing great distances and two wide for other highway/roads. Caches could be placed along the roads and have essentials like food, torches, and various blocks, free for the taking. Anyway, I thought I'd throw that out there. While my current main structure isn't complete, I'm excited to start over again and explore new land.

I just remembered that some other had a highway system set up. Also, something in the Overworld like we had in the Nether could work as well.

Overworld has the advantage of being able to send items on carts to trade with other players if they're close enough. The disadvantage is, of course, that it's eight times slower.

Do carts stop at a certain point when out of range of a person even when the tracks are still powered?

I apologise for the prolonged absence.

In the interest of revitalising the server, I propose a world reset and version upgrade to Minecraft 1.9, at the time that is released.


Furthermore, on the topic of the whitelist, we have three options, I suppose:

• Keep adding to the current whitelist, which apparently includes at least one griefer.
• Purge the whitelist and start populating it anew.
• Getting rid of the whitelist altogether, essentially turning it into an "anarchy" server.

Any comments or suggestions for other options are more than welcome.


If there are no new comments by the time Minecraft 1.9 is released, I will understand this as silent agreement to the above, archive the current world, upgrade the Minecraft server version, and start a new world - possibly toying around with the whitelist beforehand.

been somewhat playing FPS and zombie (dayz, h1z1) too much and feel like getting back to minecraft for a change with the original IV community. also don't mind donating some teamspeak resources if the minecraft server gets resurected.

Decided to run a minecraft realms server.. added ppl on the iv whitelist(i recognise)... you'll see an invite on your minecraft client (realms button) will run the server as long as i can... as long as there's ppl in it.
