So is Introversion dead?

I'm sorry if I sound blunt but as a long time supporter of Introversion and its products, I feel concerned about the current situation of the company.
Chris hasn't posted about the development of Subversion since last august and his last message on this very board dates back to october.
I don't see anymore updates, blog entries or any actual content coming from the company.
I'd really like to know what the situation is, even if it's not bright at all.

Don't worry about it guys ;)

All is good, actually the best it's been for a long time. We have undoubtedly "gone dark", ie we are not posting news or blog updates at the moment, but we are enjoying some of the best times I've ever experienced at Introversion. It feels like we're back to the old days - just a handful of us, working on the next game at our homes, looking forward to the release. No multiplayer sequels, console ports of existing games or anything like that to worry about - just the Next Game, an original work. No more mining our 2005 successes. Financially all is good, we had a(nother) great Steam promotion over xmas, and we're even hiring some freelancers on the Next Game. It hasn't felt this good since Defcon to be honest.

I read the forums every day, but very rarely post at the moment. After part 20 of the Subversion blog, which roughly coincided with the live demos of Subversion at World of Love, I decided it was time to stop writing quite so publicly about the process. I also decided I wasn't going to write about that decision either. For a long while, writing publicly about Subversion was the right thing to do, and I got a lot of satisfaction out of it. But that has changed now, and I've got other priorities at Introversion at the moment. I'm a selfish individual really, blogs get written when I want to write them ;) I'm certain there will be future blogs, just not right now.

I'm not going to make any promises or be pushed into estimating dates or anything, because we all know how that always ends up. But we've got some good stuff coming, and I don't just mean Subversion. We've some surprises up our sleeves too.

THANKYOU CHRIS -

even though I know you said that just to prove Jelco wrong :P

I understand how the whole hush-hush can be a good thing, but perhaps a random screenshot of some random element of what you are doing every month or so would be good? Just to keep the rumor mill running ;)

Don't you mean "The Next Next Game?" or the "Forth[sic] Game?" or something similar?

Though I wonder...

I assume this means the previously mentioned Defcon PS3 port is dead, right?

Good to hear that progress is still being made on future games. It looks like Introversion is back to being bedroom programmers again. :)

Weren't you here for most of that?

Before Darwinia was released, it was referred to as "The Next Game." In fact, Darwinia can, and legitimately should, still be referred to as "The Next Game." Some time around when Darwinia was released, Chris posted a plan for the future. He talked about "The Next Next Game" and the "Forth[sic] Game." I believe that Defcon is "The Next Next Game," and that Subversion is the "Forth[sic] Game." However, that post is ancient history, and may also have referred to Multiwinia, or Chronometer, or some other project.

Judging from the context I'm guessing that's a typo, in which case:...

Not a typo. Perfectly grammatical English, and all that. I had just assumed that you had been around for longer than you have (or that the whole naming convention was less old than it is).
