Translating Introversion games to Spanish

Postby ShySpy » Mon Jun 28, 2010 8:45 pm

I bought the Introversion Complete Pack in Steam two days ago and, thought I've only played Darwinia and DEFCON by far, your games are really awesome and original. The only thing bad about them (besides some lack of AI for movement in Darwinia...) is that they're only in English.

I've done several (unofficial) translations of indie and old console games and I'd like to translate Darwinia, Multiwinia, Uplink and DEFCON. I don't want money or anything for doing it, I just like translating, and more Spanish speaking people will probably buy Introversion games if they are in their language

Please, contact me through my email if I can do anything.

I just checked. Both Defcon and Multiwinia have Spanish options (under Options>Other Options). I don't have the others installed so I can't check, but I'm pretty that at least Darwinia also has that option.

Why ruin this guys day? If he wants to do it, let him do it. Gosh you're such assholes for smashing this guys dreams, now he has to learn a whole new language, probably chinese or something, to fulfill his wish. You know how much time that takes?!

Oh, wow. I've been two days playing DEFCON in English and there was an option to play it in Spanish? Thanks.

Anyway, Darwinia and Uplink are still in English :/

Steam\steamapps\username\darwinia\language.dat (which is a zip file in disguise) says there is spanish. You just have to enable it through the options.

Don't know about Uplink.

Would need the source code to do a translation for Uplink but even then the T&Cs forbid people from distributing translated versions. Distributors of the German version probably have some form of exclusivity rights which may explain why such a clause exists.
Uplink help: Check out the Guide or FAQ.
Latest Uplink patch is v1.55.

I've actually translated Darwinia a couple of years ago:
