Mind you, the issue isn't so much the stories being particularly good (although they are pretty solid), but the vast majority of other games being bloody terrible.

I don't really do wallpapers, preferring something smallish to leave enough of the black background for me to clearly see all of my desktop icons.

I would like to say that I don't hate Breen, quite the opposite. For one, his voice is the best one in the Half-Life series, without a doubt, and I wish SOMEONE had the guts to make a mod using the original voice (as in, email the guy and possibly pay a little, it's totally worth it). As for Breen himself, he is a great leader, gives good speeches, and just sells it. I know he's evil, and I know I killed him, but only because he was trying to... Wait, what was he going to do again? Just teleport somewhere, no?

Well, you're probably not as into it as I am. My friend got me started on it and, when I finally got my copy of the Orange Box on Xbox 360, I was hooked.

Ya, that's probably at least a contributing factor. But like I said, Valve makes other developers (except IV) look bad.

I'll admit that I'm not "into" the story as much as you are, that's a given and thus far been the core of our discussion. However, that's not to say I'm not "into" the game as much as you are, though you might be.

By the way, not to turn this into a pissing match (that's not my intention), but given that you really seem to have gotten started with the Orange Box then you're a bit new to the series. When Half Life first came out back in 1998 my brother and I had been playing Duke Nukem death match over a home LAN for a while and we were excited to get something new. We were gaming on old Voodoo cards and processors that I can't even remember, and we played the nonsense out of HL Death match. He always played with an Elvis skin, and I was Jack from Jack in the Box.

Good times... :D

Actually, I've played it before, I just didn't own any of their games until more recently. But I would say I've played enough of it to appreciate the characters and how they fit into the story. I'm not really talking about multiplayer, as I usually just play single player. But I have played the original Half-Life and so I know how the story goes. I have not, however played Blue Shift or Opposing Force yet. But I will eventually.

Also, I would post my desktop but it changes every 30 seconds and many of them are not work friendly. >.>
