YAY!

Postby Feud » Fri Oct 09, 2009 1:09 am

Back from a good trip! The medical testing was all sorts of boring, blood work, pee in a cup, full physical, vision, hearing, CT scan, and getting to run for 15 minutes on an inclined treadmill while hooked to and EKG machine. The staff seemed to like me seeing as I was the only one to show up in professional attire and also the only one to fill out my paperwork correctly (my secret was reading it before writing).

And I got some very good news.

I was told a few months ago that if the budget held up they projected an academy entrance in January. On Tuesday I was informed that I've been selected to enter the academy earlier than expected, and I now have an official entrance date in November!

YAY!

So in a couple weeks I'll be back to officially sign the paperwork and become an employee of the Police Department, to get all the orientation information for the police academy, and to start apartment hunting. A friend of mine is going to med school there so I might stay with him for the first few weeks while I save up some money, but I'd like to get my own place as soon as it's practical.

The academy is going to be an interesting ordeal and you might not hear much from me for about six months. It's 24 weeks, divided into a 12 week beginning course that focuses on physical and mental conditioning, and the basic academic portion. The second 12 weeks is the advanced training (guns, driving, tear gas, tactics, etc), then it's off to patrol.

I'm stoked!

You mean you were the only one who put your date of birth rather than today's date?! :P

Haha, actually more along the lines of signing in the right places and not checking off medical conditions that don't apply to my gender.

You gonna be an even more asshole then you're already are, and let me tell you this, because no one else will, you gonna be fucked up.

It's ok, I wouldn't have applied for the job if I wasn't willing to accept the fact that bad things might happen. It's just Jordy's way of saying he loves me and to be safe.

Sorry I can't help thinking about Mahoney and the gang whenever you mention Police Academy...classic comedy.

Good luck...I'm not sure I'd like to live and work in Las Vegas, though I only saw a small part...4 days of the place is more than enough for me...it reminds me of Pleasure Island from Pinocchio.

Do you think your religious beliefs will help in your new career when a lot of the people you'll have to deal with will be godless?
