Yeah, that-s great If you know how much each coin is worth.

But once you know the value of each coin, it is much easier to work out how much and what is in your hand/wallet when buying something.

Complain how much you want about Euro coins, but this:
<pretty picture>

Is much more easy to figure out than this:
<pretty picture>
Yeah, but how often do you have them laid out like that and with that much contrast on the embossed detail? With the sterling coins, once you learn what they are, you can tell exactly what you have in your wallet just by looking at the coins side-on. No need to piss about emptying them into your palm an turning them over to read them or anything like that.

Edit: Also; see above.
Whoever you vote for, the government wins.

Coins are overused. Around here we only have coins up to 10 NIS.

I'd post a pic but I can't find a good one, any idea where to look?

Actually, my main complaint is not the shape, but the size and position of the value. The two pound, for instances, has the value in hard to see small lettering around the edge of the coin, while the otherwise large coin is filled with decoration. Compare with the Euro coin where the value is very clearly visible in one of the sides (which was my point with the previous pictures).

I cant believe that Australia actually wins at something!

EDIT: I should point out that the 5c and 10c coins are half the thickness of the other coins.

Yeah Australian coins are nice and easy to tell apart. When I went to Canada it drove me insane that the 10 cent coin was smaller than the 5 cent coin, always stood there fumbling change like an idiot. Plus, on an tangent (well a tangent to this already derailed thread. Is it me or are the Canadian notes just the most awful combination of garish but still somehow putrid brown looking colours:

Would you prefer it to look like Monopoly?

The hungary guy was okay.

And one no show.

Which means I have nothing to do until lunch time :P

Vaguely, although my problem is that I have no idea how long each of them might take. Even so, my main problem right now is what to do on Saturday before heading to the airport.

Hmm... Seems I have to leave the university earlier than I thought, which means that if I head directly to the train station and from there to London, I might still hang around for a about an hour or so on Euston before heading to the Hotel.

Also, probably my last chance to take advantage of University computers :(
