Rock N' Roll Topic

Postby The Reds » Tue Aug 11, 2009 11:40 am

Ok. This is not the only random topic in this area but it came to me to see who listened to old school rock like from the 60's and 80's. If I missed any, let me know. Here are some of the back-round info on these bands.

Jimi Hendrix= 'Best Soul Guitarist in the world'

Led Zeppelin= "Biggest Band Of The 70's" =1

Red Hot Chili Peppers="Top Ten Most Grossing Albums"

Elvis Presley="The King Of Rock And Roll" =1

Donovan="Known For His Appearances"

The Beatles="Most Known Around Band'

Buffalo Spring="Left A Legacy Of Rich Recordings"

The Rolling Stones="Known For It's Political Coverage In 70's" =1

The Who="Known As Energetic Performers"

Elton John="Most Successful Artist Of All Time" =1

Pink Floyd="Known For Philosophical Lyrics" =2

Johnny Cash="Known For Distinctive Bass Voice" =1

Well you missed quite a few to be honest. ;) Where's Deep Purple? Where are The Doors? Pink Floyd? Dire Straits? E.L.O.? Supertramp? AC/DC? Santana? Then again it's pretty darn impossible to list all big names in one poll so I guess it's sort of forgivable, had you not included Red Hot Chili Peppers. :P

I'm going to have to go with Led Zeppelin. Their fourth album is still one of the best albums of all time. As for the band I listen to the most these days, Alan Parsons definitely takes that title, including his post-Project work (seen them live twice now) but I listen to a lot of other stuff in this category as well. Mostly Dire Straits, Pink Floyd and Supertramp. Depending on your definition, Meat Loaf might fall into that category as well.

While I'd agree the options aren't that great, I'd also agree you can't put them all up there. So I'd have to go with Elvis.

He's got it all; sex, drugs, and rock and roll. :P

The beatles are a pop band, not a rock and roll band. I'll vote for the rolling stones for consistency.
