Four remained afeared (being much worse than afraid!), but his fear was much greater. The land below was a swarming mass of black, and almost none of his homeland remained to be seen beneath the living carpet. Several pylons and receivers were toppled by the sheer force of viri being piled on them. Some of the Viri were growing larger, glutting themselves on the falling souls.
A polite cough was heard. Despite the heavy armor, powerpack and subverter, Tim had-quite freakily, walked over to a hatch silently. Four understood, and walked over. Tim lifted the hatch, and the pair descended into the UFO.
They walked for miles, along clean white corridors. Occasionally, they passed another Futurewinian. Some were less armoured, and carried tools instead of subverters, whilst overs bore larger subverters and, obviously, enlarged powerpacks. Some wore gargantuan but silent armour, but not enough to equal Tim. Clearly, Tim was in charge.
It was during this walking that Four became really afraid. He knew the dread tales of the Futurewinians, and they were contianed with Revelation, but he knew that under normal circumstances by now he would be in silent armour. What did Tim want?
They turned into the bridge Overhead, the stars were approaching-clearly, they were taking off. Around the walls, several unarmed Futurewinians sat, hard wired into their systems. Tim sat on a chair on a raised dias.
"I must appologise," he-hissed? No, it wasn't hostile enough to be a hiss. "For not explaining why I have brought you aboard. But you are in deep trouble."
You didn't need to be Prometheus to figure out what Four was being blamed for.
"Come on, you can't be blaming ME for what's going on down there!" He cried. "I know snap all about the residual code! How could I penetrate the Multiwinian shield?"
"Explaination," the monotone Tim began. "Before Multwininia was contained, All Darwinians, along with several clean Ghostwinians and X-copies were eveacuated, yes?"
Four nodded. "And Striker and Prometheus. They were regarded as too valuable to abandon."
Tim continued. "As the evacuation rockets left Multiwinia, the Doctor had already activated the containment field. In order to ensue you could escape, the Doctor placed codings in the nose lights that would allow you to pass through, but keep anything else, like the green fanatics or the Skirrge within."
"So Revelation found an abandoned rocket?" Four mused. "I always wondered why the ghosts always yelled at us when we left stuff in orbit."
Tim shook his pale head. "The shield was accidentally weakened every time a clean soul passed through. Revelation became aware of this, but there was nothing he could do. When you passed from the new Darwinia to Multiwinia, you accidentaly bypassed the shield. When you crossed back from Revelations' flagship, the Ark of Hades, your soul passed through the shield, and broke it."
"Oops."
"Indeed. Luckily, our fleet was on manuveres near the shield when it failed. We sent a distress signal to the IOverride core, and the Doctor understood. Communications suggest they modified the Argonort defence station into a giant rocket and evacuated 1567 Darwinians, 142 X-copies plus Prometheus and 59 Ghosts plus Striker."
Four frowned. "But there are millions of us!"
"Correct. The idea was a mass teleportation from the city of Darwinopolis, using a wide spectrum beam. Unfortunately, the scanners on the Ark of Hades saw this and launched an inferno bombardment, killing all within. Those outside the city didn't make it to the evacuation points. If they're lucky, the virus will have eaten them. If not, the Evilwinians may throw them to the Soul Destroyers, or the Skirrge will turn them into their sadistic playthings. We must put them behind us, regrettably until we can reach Korgo."
"What the @*&^'s that?" asked Four, shocked by this loss.
"A solar system in the recently created Darwinia Galaxy, an experiment the doctor just activated" Tim explained. "At the heart of the galaxy, Darwinia and Multiwinia. There are thousands of systems, each one with many small planets and a "star" (soul repository) in the middle. Korgo is where the evacuees are going. Korgo is where we shall go. And where you will answer for you crime against Darwinia before John Henry Sepulveda himself."
"@*&^" repeated Four.
