Cancel the download and get something worth playing.

let me know what you think, was always intrested in EVE only never took the time to get to know it.
Also you're very crude for an icepick, instead why don't you go back to work and make something worth playing... a#@$#%$

EVE is actually quite fun, if you meet the right people. And if you stop listen to people shouting about how bad they think it is. Just don't expect an MMO like all the others.

That's exactly why I wanted it, I thought it'd have more intuitive controls. I'm still going with the tutorial missions I think, certainly wasn't worth gettign up in the off-peak times to download that's for sure, I had more fun with Theme Hospital.

Got into EVE about a year ago. Don't play it much - I've never been a big MMO fan - but it's the only one that appeals.

Learning curve is brutal, people are a bunch of twats often enough, and space is made entirely of right-click context menus.

But get a good bunch of people together and you can have some real fun. The game had by far the most depth of any MMO out there. Ignore all that spreadsheet nonsense - I leave that to the saddos who play at mining and trading. It's all about running around in small groups (or 200+ fleet engagements if you fancy it) and making spaceships go boom.

Forget all that 'raid' nonsense in WoW, or anything else like that in MMOs - in EVE everything is emergent simply because almost the whole game world is made up of the actions of other players - you just can't approach EVE in the same way - the kind constant adaptation, planning, re-planning, reacting and so on that no 'raid' or 'instance' could ever produce.
Whoever you vote for, the government wins.

Civilization V was just announced for fall this year.

In between this, Starcraft 2, and a new World of Warcraft expansion, it's expected that nerds go extinct due to starvation by early 2011.

Just read about the Civ 5 announcement, and now I fear for my life.
When Civ 4 came out, I started playing and suddenly it was a week later :?

I've tried three or four times to get into the Civ games (Civ, Civ III, CivIV), they've just never hooked me. :?

I can agree with this assessment entirely. The beauty of the EvE universe impresses me more than any other MMO, it's simply incredible.

Mining, on the other hand, is the most boring thing ever.
