Warfare: Battle of the Websites - What is your fav Website?

Postby martinmir » Wed Dec 03, 2008 2:19 pm

Hello IV

I Just wanted to start a debate about your favorite website and why. I want to also find out what in your opinion makes for a great functional website.

Image

I would have to say my favorite website is trashbat.co.ck and the reason for this is that is easy to navigate and really simple. It’s a great series if you haven’t seen it already, a must buy. I feel good websites have to have relevant information about the product and service. The history of the company is nice to read if you love the product or service. Images, screen shots, videos and logo are great as long as the page isn’t too cluttered. Less is more for me. How about you?

So what websites do you guys use? Any product or service is cool. I just want to see what kind of sites you the IV community visit.

Post your links below and why?

Are you greeting yourself... :?

Anyway....

Couple of websites…

http://www.yosemite.org/vryos/

There is nothing fancy about this site but, as I’ve mentioned before, I am quite taken with Yosemite and do enjoy having a look now and then to reminisce about my visit there, see how bad the winter weather is, and occasionally spot some wildlife/people that have wandered into the camera’s field of view.

http://www.celticquicknews.co.uk

Again nothing fancy here but this is an informative site which discusses issues affecting Celtic in a more mature manner than other fan sites or indeed popular media. The site is also an excellent resource on the financial aspects of football and will discuss issues affecting Celtic, Scottish football and football in Europe that are largely ignored by domestic media outlets, particularly the issues of bigotry, racism and sectarianism.

forums.multiwinia.co.uk

My other forum is pretty kickass, but it's also far too exclusive to post the URL here.

Eventually I'll finish the new games site I'm working on with a mate, then I shan't shut up about that.

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com is the only gaming-related website that I check daily. In fact, it's the only gaming website I check on any regular basis, as sites such as the escapist, which I used to read a lot (until it became clear that the odd gem of insight was increasingly rare amongst the wordier-than-thou of the rest of it), feminist gamers blog and stuff by Leigh Alexander and others who I used to read regularly often just get linked to from the comments threads on RPS if they've got anything good...

Comics, other than those suggested so far:
www.qwantz.com
www.comet7.com
www.freakangels.com
www.asofterworld.com

The website which appears near the top of my 'most visited' is
isiknowledge.com
