Oh boy!

Talked to the accountant today, my tax return will be arriving much sooner than I anticipated! Since I'm a student and didn't make the minimum earning requirement to pay taxes I'm getting a nice chunk back, so that means that in two weeks I'll get to do what is quickly becoming my favorite tradition...

The annual gun purchase! I've got some good ideas for this year but nothing finalized yet, I'll be sure to keep you all posted!

For anyone unfamiliar with last year's shenanigans, here is a handy link.

Why yes indeed. In fact, a Remington 12 gauge is very high up on my list.

That certainly sounds like an interesting tradition, do you use your guns for hunting, at the range, your own protection, or a combination of the above?

When I was younger I was always staunchly opposed to guns but I'm becoming a bit more open to the idea than I used to be, certainly if I was living in America the temptation to own a gun and a concealed weapon license (where appropriate) seems like a good idea as, again depending on local law, other people a lot less sane than I am would also have guns....

I'm a bit curious as you've said it's a tradition: how many guns have you got already?

Ooh, a Super soaker. We used to fill those up with warm water so it was actually kinda pleasant to be hit by your opponents.

That was back in the day when I didn't spend all my time in front of my computer, just most of it. ^^;

I rarely hunt, I've only gone once in the last 14 years (give or take a year). I mainly shoot for fun, since virtually all of my time is spent these days in a school setting I'm sure the administration and police would be a little chaffed if I tried to carry for protection.

It's a fairly new tradition, this will be my third (and possibly fourth depending on what I get :D ).

Yes, but I don't really want one (though depending on the country of origin, they can go for fairly cheap).. If I was to pick something like that up I'd probably go with an AR-15 instead.

That's a Thompson sub-machine gun, and while I technically could get one, all the one's I've seen sell for a little beyond my price range.

zjoere, I believe that's called a Tommy gun.

Reminds me of the movie Snatch.:

Snatch. wrote:"That's Tommy. Tells people he was named after a gun. But I know that he is really named after a 19th century ballet-dancer."

EDIT: This was supposed to come before Feud's post. :P

UPDATE:

After careful consideration on the matter, I have ruled out getting a shotgun. While I would like to get one eventually, I can't ge teh use out of it that I would with either a rifle or handgun. Maybe next year...

You could use the money to get drunk...seems like a much better use to me.
