To all owners of a Creative Zen Vision:M
To all owners of a Creative Zen Vision:M
Shortly after I bought my Creative Zen Vision:M (almost a year ago, according to the very second Weekly Poll) I misplaced the CD that came with it and I haven't recovered it since. The problem is that the software on my PC is somewhat broken, a problem which I've always been able to fix with a reinstall. At least, back when I had that disc. Those assholes at Creative refuse to put Creative Media Explorer for the ZVM on their support site, and thus I can't frikkin' reinstall it.
There's little actual trouble here, as Windows Media Player works perfectly fine, but my videos get dumped in the main dir, while the rest of my vids are still in a neat directory structure. An upload of the original driver CD would thus be really appreciated.

PS: The next Weekly Poll is coming up tomorrow. Probably.

I had that problem with my Creative Zen Vision W. I got the Zen Vision M software via a torrent hoping that would work, of course it didn't....erm. Give me 10 minutes while I check my "Randomly downloaded crap" folder.
Edit: Woot found it. It's a rather large zip file, almost a full CD size. Time to find somewhere to host it.

Or I could have looked on a torrent site of course.

Hey, I appreciate it. With no money coming in not going over my theoretical monthly limit would be a good idea.

You know that if you have the latest Windows Media Player installed, you can browse the "filesystem" (bloody lame bloody MTP, more like WTF) with windows explorer? So you can move your music/movies around that way. Probably possible to do album art manually that way too, although I doubt it'd be much fun

Meh. WMP is not a bad app, but there's so many other apps that are way better that I usually don't bother about WMP (MPC is the best player ever made). In this dire situation where I did need some MTP app, I used WMP. In such a case, downloading an older version is less of a bother than cracking the newest version.
For some reason MediaMonkey failed to work as well. It can read from my ZVM, but it refuses to write or alter any data on it.

PS: To hell with Clippit.

Crack it, install it, then *don't use it* except for MTP devices such as your Creative Zen Vision:M? (which I also own, by the way, the old thick 60gb model)
Seriously, there's nothing quite as easy as just being able to explore the filesystem.
I did try libmtpfs (that is, MTP filesystem libraries for linux) but it seemed to take about five minutes just to change directories, and would crash my player a lot... shame!

PS: To hell with MaximusBrood. I happen to like his sig, Mr. Brood, although I think he could have done something better. With whales and petunias. Or something. What's so bad with Jelco? Pick on Cobra, or (MOR), or me. I need some picking on. Rkiver's being lax at the moment.
