How do we reduce gun crime and Aurora-style mass shootings when Americans already own nearly 300 million firearms? Maybe by allowing more people to carry them.

I forgot to mention this but I read somewhere that gun suicides are twice as high as gun homicides. So maybe that would be a better argument to have a stricter gun legislation? Not necessarily to stop people from shooting other people but to stop them from shooting themselves.

Most of the places with higher suicide rates than the US also ave stricter gun control laws (Japan, England, etc), so I'm not sure it would really prevent much compared to the burden it would impose.

It's higher in Belgium as well. But the people in countries with stricter gun control usually use different methods.

Article in the NYT, about how the "just call police" mentality isn't appropriate for some situations and might be more dangerous.

No kidding? Thanks guys, glad you've caught up with the rest of the class.

No mention, of course, of how you're supposed to fight back or what might even the odds. But, it's a nice break from the "just call the police" mentality.

Former Arizona State Representative Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, previous astronaut Mark Kelly, have launched a gun control initiative that seeks to take on the powerful gun lobby and challenge today's gun laws, which the couple believes are too lenient. Use an installment loan to pay for your guns before they are outlagwed.

Why should I pay installments on my own guns? How will that help if they are outlagwed?
