Movie Advice

Postby Feud » Tue Jul 31, 2007 6:32 pm

I've been reading lately about the film "Pretty Village, Pretty Flame" (translated from Лепа села лепо горе, or Lepa sela lepo gore), and it sounds excellent.

The problem I'm having though is that it is unrated. I don't want to watch a film that has nudity or other obscene material in it, but due to it not being rated I am having difficulty judging the films content. I realize that due to it's subject matter that there is going to be some rough things (violence, language, and such).

So, if anyone here has seen it, is there any nudity or other graphic material in it? Thanks for any help!

just wondering, what do you consider worst in a film - nudity or violence?

I've always found that odd. How can watching someone get killed be more acceptable than seeing someone naked?

SO you are willing to play a video game where millions of people die by your hand....but you won;t watch an unrated movie because it MAY have nudity or violence :S

Violence is apparently fine, it's just the nudity that he finds objectionable. . .

Nudity.

This topic is already exhausted on the net and in RL, but I always find it strange that nudity is more offensive to some than people blowing each others brains out in a movie or TV show. In fact, I find it extremely perverted that depictions of violent acts are allowed when showing someones ass is not.

I'm right. :)

Look at another movie like Harry Potter. They actually put entries in each of the categories. The Site for Pretty Village, Pretty Flame doesn't list anything which basically means no one has bothered providing any information on it.

I don't want to watch graphic violence, I find it disturbing. But, sometimes depictions of violence is neccesary to convey the message of the movie (such as Hotel Rwanda). I realize the same may be said of nudity and sex, and I have no desire to see those films. That is why I not only said sex/nudity, but also graphic material. Graphic violence is included in that, sorry for not being more clear.

Certainly war is filled with horrors that are not confined to the battlefield, but I think those issues can be addressed accurately and tastefully without resorting to nudity or graphic depictions.

I have no desire to see nudity in the first place, nor do I want to destroy the experiance by keeping one hand on the remote just in case something bad comes on screen. Further, I don't want the temptation to be there to watch it at all.

Really though, I don't have to justify my values. I just wanted to know if there was any nudity, or other graphic material. I've heard great things about the film, but I don't want to see graphic depictions of sex, graphic violence, or nudity.

Sex & Nudity:

There is some mild kissing and zombie sex.

Taken from the parents guide for Braindead. It's best to present this film as a live version of Itchy & Scratchy.

I respect anyones wish to not see graphic material, but I also find it strange that with equal levels of sex/nudity and violence, skin always loses (at least in the States). Topless tanning is prohibited in the states, but buying semi-automatic rifles is almost as normal as grocery shopping.
