C&C3 vs Supreme Commander
The hot battle (lol?) between Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, and Supreme Commander tightens up, with SC released, C&C3 being released this month. Who will be thy winner of the new age RTS? Who will take the trophy of "The better RTS game"?
What do you think?
What do you think?
Yep.

Which just shows how good Starcraft is. He wasn't on the list and it still won (Darwinia and Defcon are a different type of RTS and I'm not considering them)
But if I'm absolutely forced to choose between any of those two, then my answer is : *Drum roll* Neither.
I'm not particularly interested in none and they wouldn't even run in my PC if I tried.
Well let's look at C&C pedigree.
C&C: Absolute classic.
Red Alert: Brilliant.
Tiberian Sun: Erm, not that good.
Red Alert 2: Well it's ok, but not as great as the others.
Renegade: Absolute shit.
Generals: America vs terror, and the gameplay sucked too.
As you can see since EAs take over it's been pretty much downhill. Sure might prove me wrong, but I don't hold much hope.
Total Annihilation: Absolute classic in every way. Better then C&C.
Supreme Commander: Short single player, but in lans it is fucking great.
In short, Defcon owns.

Command & Conquer all the way for me, played the games back when I was a kid and loved 'em. Tried Total Annihilation and could never get into it, Supreme Commander feels like the same to me and I just cannot get into it.
Played the CnC 3 demo and it felt so much like the old games (to me at any rate) so I'm rather pleased with that aspect, and of course I am euphoric over the fact that Kane lives again!
Brotherhood. Unity. Peace. *^_^*

Chess, although I need to upgrade to battlechess
Seriously, the best RTS unit building games I've ever played is either C&C1, Homeworld and Cataclysm (Still haven't played HW2). If you're talking Non-unit building, in no order, Ground Control, Defcon, Harpoon2, maybe Jane's Fleet defender...
IMHO, In general EA games have gone downhill, think it because they've looking for image rather than good old fashion gameplay, and my pet hate is releasing a 'better' sport version, rather than an upgrade....
P.S. This post was done left handed

That shouldn't keep you from trying. Supreme Commander runs on my 6600LE...
Compared to my graphics card, that thing is state of the art.
It's an ATI Radeon mobility, almost five years old. I'm lucky enough that Dawn of War runs without slowing down much.
Oh, and my PC's CD/DVD drive hates DVD's

I was too impatient. The pathing was terrible and the physics didn't help a bit. And I hated the scrap from dead units. You couldn't do a proper attack because your front lines would die and block the way. But I won't deny that for its time it was something special.

My ATI Radeon Mobility would run it. Then again it's an X1400. The fact that it's ATI Radeon Mobility doesn't mean it's a bad card. Your model just happens to be old.
I still have feelings for good old AOK. I'm a true defensive player. Don't attack until you have all the upgrades and all 200 units out. Of course it's not very effective. You needed the right map (Black Forest), strong walls, plenty of towers, and the difficulty set medium or below. AOEIII doess not cater to this (not that it should; us casual players aren't the target audience), and neither has any other game I've played (not that I've played a whole lot).
I hear Civilization IV is good (I know it's not RTS because it's turn-based). It has really high ratings.
Oh, and there's Multiwinia.
