If you could press rewind and do it all again
Would you change your mind, would you change a thing
Would you make it easy, would you make it hard
Would you play the game under another name
Or ask the dealer for one more card

Have you had your say, seen all you wanted to see
Or did your dream give way to reality
Don't think it's all too late for you to even try
Before you clip your wings, see what this life brings
You've waited too long it's time to fly

Do you believe in fate and what is meant to be
Could you imagine life without a guarantee
Would you appreciate that time was on your side
A flash of second sight, a chance to do it right
Is something money just can't buy

(Alan Parsons - Press Rewind)

Yesterday is a wrinkle on your forehead
Yesterday is a promise that you’ve broken
Don’t close your eyes, don’t close your eyes
This is your life and today is all you’ve got now
Yeah, and today is all you’ll ever have...

This is your life, are you who you want to be?
This is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be
When the world was younger and you had everything to lose?

Switchfoot - "This is Your Life"
Some people talk because they have something to say. Others talk because they have to say something.

A poke in the eye for Dope:

Happy ever after in the market place,
Desmond lets the children lend a hand;
Molly stays at home and does her pretty face
And in the evening she's a singer with the band.

Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da, life goes on, bra!
Lala how the life goes on!

No shit?

Anyways, you can't keep up those appearances forever! Here's one of the best Finnish bands:

I live in a perfect Hell, I try finding my wishing well
when I drop my last tear, I have accepted this life

A true saint, that I am not, you have never seen me
'Cause I have always been there, standing by your side

I'll never have a chance, I can't understand
I'm a misplaced man
How could this backward land
Learn to understand my dance
what it's like, when

Every single moment pains me...
Never felt like home here
I am missing something
My soul's in a wrong shell?

(Sonata Arctica - Misplaced)

So - you think you can tell heaven from hell?
Blue skies from pain?
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

- Pink Floyd, Wish you were here.

That's very nice!

KingAl wrote:Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

These are the darkest clouds
They have surrounded me
Now I find my self alone caught in a cage
There's no flower I can find in here
Not withering
Or pale to me
Everyone with a friendly face
Seems to hide some secret inside

He told me he loved me
While he laughed in my face
He just led me astray
He took my virtue
I feel so cold inside
Sorrow has frozen my mind

the ring of fire
the ring of fire.

I would say so.

Lyric Wars is a little bit more subjective than Picture Wars, but still it's been very interesting (at least to me).

Edit:

Well the truck stop cutie
Comin' on to me
Tried to talk me into a ride
Said I wouldnt be sorry
But she was just a baby
Ah, waitress pour me another cup of coffee
Pop me down jack me up
Shoot me out flyin' down the highway
Lookin' for the morning

Eddie Rabbit - Drivin' My Life Away
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast...

Heh. I misinterpreted the post as being a comment that you liked the lyrics and wanted to hear them sung by some country singer. Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking either...

In that context it's pretty funny. Haven't you either heard that song or heard someone singing it (if you're from the US)?

BTW - I don't listen to country. Otherwise I would've known the singer.
