Nope. If it's so famous why don't you know the artist?

Ah. So it's a '65 oldie. No wonder I've never heard it. I wasn't alive in '65 and I don't listen to the oldies station. There only a select few oldies that I like, such as Simon & Garfunckle and America.

All of their children, and all of their names
And every handout in every town
And every lock that ain't locked

I sing,
Trailers for sale or rent
Rooms to let, fifty cents
No phone, no pool, no pets
I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah, but, two hours of pushin' broom
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the road.

The poets tell how Pancho fell, and Lefty's living in cheap hotels.
The desert's quiet, Cleveland's cold, and so the story ends we're told.
Pancho needs your prayers it's true, but save a few for Lefty too.
He only did what he had to do, and now he's growing old.

Now, if you've never hear this one, why not?!

Maybe I just want to fly
I want to live I don't want to die
Maybe I just want to breathe
Maybe I just don't believe
Maybe you're the same as me
We see things they'll never see
You and I are gonna live forever

The arena is empty except for one man,
Still driving and striving as fast as he can.
The sun has gone down and the moon has come up,
And long ago somebody left with the cup.
But hes driving and striving and hugging the turns.
And thinking of someone for whom he still burns.

I just can't get enough of that song.

There in the road, up straight ahead
A car was stalled, the engine was dead
I couldn’t stop, so I swerved to the right
I’ll never forget the sound that night
The screamin’ tires, the bustin’ glass
The painful scream that I heard last.

Last Kiss - by Wayne Cochran (covered by Pearl Jam, but still never liked it)

But without him,
how would Hitler have condemned him at Dachau?
Without him Caesar would have stood alone
He’s the one who gives his body
as a weapon of the war.
And without him all this killing can’t go on

Donovan - Universal Soldier

You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so we can fly away
We gotta make a decision
We leave tonight or live and die this way

Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's confusing you
Is just the nature
of my game
(woo woo, who who)

Just as every cop
is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me Lucifer
'Cause I'm in
need of some restraint
(who who, who who)

So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and
some taste
(woo woo)
Use all your well-learned
politesse
Or I'll lay your soul to waste, um yeah

Grateful Dead - Friend of the Devil

I ran down to the levee but the devil caught me there
He took my twenty dollar bill and vanished in the air

What a jerk!

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a color TV?
Dialing For Dollars is trying to find me.
I wait for delivery each day until three,
So Lord, won’t you buy me a color TV?

Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a night on the town?
I’m counting on you, Lord, please don’t let me down.
Prove that you love me and buy the next round,
Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a night on the town?

Baby's on fire
Better throw her in the water
Look at her laughing
Like a heifer to the slaughter

Baby's on fire
And all the laughing boys are bitching
Waiting for photos
Oh the plot is so bewitching

Rescuers row row
Do your best to change the subject
Blow the wind blow blow
Lend some assistance to the object

Photographers snip snap
Take your time she's only burning
This kind of experience
Is necessary for her learning

If you'll be my flotsam
I could be half the man I used to
They said you were hot stuff
And that's what Baby's been reduced to...

Juanita and Juan
Very clever with maraccas
Making their fortunes
Selling second-hand tobaccoes

Juan dances at Chico's
And when the clients are evicted
He empties the ashtrays
And pockets all that he's collected

But Baby's on fire!
And all the instruments agree that
Her temperature's rising
But any idiot would know that.

- Brian Eno, 'Baby's on Fire'

I'm sorry, but I had to print the whole song - the lyrics are just great.

The day Ted Nugent killed all the animals
The day Ted Nugent killed all the animals
He did it so he could bond with his male friends
He did so they could broadcast it on ESPN
And when the news hit the wire Green peace activist where crying in they're hankies
They hadn't heard anything so awful since the first record by Damn Yankees
It was the day Ted Nugent killed all the animals
The day Ted Nugent killed all the animals

Imagine that, the motor city mad man in your backyard stalking your cat; scratch fever.

And Bob Barker cried
And Ricki Lake tried to save them
Noah turned right around in his grave
And they were all dead
But he was still Ted

He did with his bow in hand
Sitting up North in the open air
He did it for the Michigan Militia
He did it for Fred Bear
It was the day Ted Nugent killed all the animals
The day Ted Nugent killed all the animals

Cause he had so much respect for wildlife
He started tipping over goldfish bowls and chasing Bambi's mom with a knife
Which is the equivalent to having so much admiration for an art museum
That you burn all the paintings as soon as you see them
It was the day Ted Nugent killed all the animals
The day Ted Nugent killed all the animals

Raccoons get in the Garbage
(Kill'em)
Baby seals are too cute
(Kill'em)
Squirrels, yum
(Kill'em)
Orangutans, wang dang that Orangutan
(Kill'em)

He killed them all, big and small
So he could put their heads up on his wall
It was the day Ted Nugent killed all the animals

Instant Karma's gonna get you
Gonna knock you right on the head
You'd better get yourself together
Pretty soon you're gonna be dead.

What in the world were you thinking of
Laughing in the face of love?
What on earth you trying to do?
Its up to you, yeah you!

Instant karma's gonna get you
Gonna look you right in the face
Better get yourself together darling
Join the human race
How in the world you gonna see?
Laughing at fools like me
Who in the hell d'you think you are?
A super star?
Well, right you are!

Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Well we all shine on
Evreyone come on

Instant karma's gonna get you
Gonna knock you off your feet
Better recognize your brothers
Everyone you meet
Why in the world are we here?
Surely not to live in pain and fear
Why on earth are you there
When you're everywhere?
Come and get your share

Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun ...etc.

- 'Instant Karma!', John Lennon
