maybe the darwinians were successfully eradicated, or maybe there is no connection between AWAN and the net; so while darwinians have spread all over the now defunct internet the AWAN is clean. I would imagine that once the darwinians were declared a virus DrS recalled them or helped eradicate them from the internet.

Has IV ever specifically said that the AWAN isn't the internet? I realize that it wouldn't be an accurate representation of the internet, but what WAN other than the internet itself would connect all these huge companies together? I think Uplink takes place on the internet.
