Is a bandwidth bandit anything like a ninja? In a battle between a ninja, a pirate, and a bandwidth bandit, who would win? What if that battle were in Thunderdome?

Just a note.

We don't really need telling we're off topic, as we usually do so after at most a page worth or posts, then it's a free-for-all.

PowerPC, but I must echo xander's original question. Regardless of NeoThermic's warning. Because I REALLY want to be a Mac tester. but so does every other mac user here. either way, i should shut up so i dont look petulant, that'll hopefully help my chances. shutting up now.

How can you tell?

When did you buy your machine? If you bought it very recently, it is an Intel machine. If you are not certain, go up to the Apple Menu, and click on "About This Mac." The type of machine you have will be shown, as in the picture below. A G3, G4, or G5 system is not an Intel system. I don't know what it would report for an Intel :\

The processor section *will* have the word `Intel` in it if you are on an MacIntel.

The difference is the architecture of the CPU (and the chipsets).
The G-series uses a design called PPC, and the Intel-series uses Intel-CPUs of the x86-architecture.

Look on wikipedia for the differences.

Both. My laptop's a Powerbook G4, and my desktop's a 20" Intel iMac with the maxed-out video card.

FWIW, I have 3 G4 Macs (including 2 laptops), 1 G5 Quad (which is awesome for playing Darwinia!) and even an old PowerPC 604 upgraded to a 300Mhz G3. I also have a Dell Dimension 4550 2.2GHz P4, and my wife uses a 1GHz P3 Dell when she's not using one of the laptops. I can see owning an Intel Mac shortly, as soon as I can land a job and have the disposable income! I'd like to get the Mac Pro, since I like to have the latest and greatest, but I'll probably get a MacBook once the Merom chips are standard. I'd still play games on the G5 Quad, since I toasted my lap while getting completely addicted to Darwinia the first day on my aluminum G4 PowerBook! Ouch! :D

Yes, I am. Even worse, three years ago, I could have topped that with my Mac II (it was signed, but my mother gave it away). Right now, I have a Quadra, a Blue and White G3, and my PowerBook G4. However, I think I will be getting an Intel Book in the spring, when the tax refund comes.

By the way, ShepFan, what is your reaction to "Frog blast the vent core!"?
