Uplink vs other hacker games
Uplink vs other hacker games
I guess the answers will get a bit flaming since its a uplink forum, but what is better in other hacker games, that uplink lack in.
I been reading a bit about uplink, street hacker, bs-hacker replay...
and no one seems to feel the same about all thouse three games.
Sorry for my poor english, im a 10yo from sweden.

There are no other hacker games.
They're all failure wannabies.
There is just only one, this one, Uplink, and that is it.
BTW you might want to check the uplink fan-made modification Onlink.
Ohh... What about the up coming Defcon? Thought it hasn't been relesed yet I reccon it will be good.
...
Will do, sir.
Neuromancer, you mean an old DOS game? If you mean that, I'll add to it if your families or roommates are present, cut your computer buzzer off especially if it's loud. The sounds are sometimes annoying.
I will stop the 'there is one hacker game' here......
BS Hacker - I hate mission-based story, sorry. I feel that hackers' life are more open-ended than stealing limited money from limited places to serve limited man in limited server.
Street Hacker - Good console and UNIX setting. Still nothing about stability. Plus, 120dpi users can't play it at all. Too much console, by the way. Why go to downtown while you can hijack household users' Internet connections?
The Broken Link - Lame. Totally unrealistic and does not rely on anything except luck.

There's a hacking game called A.I. Wars: The Awakening, though it's not hacking like Uplink or the other games mentioned here.
Think hacking Tron style to get an idea of AIW. Or just click that link there to see it's site.

Rez has about as much to do with hacking as Tetris has to do with organizing crates in a warehouse.
Which is barely, but not much at all.
It's a fun game, don't get me wrong, but the 'hacking' aspect is really just a storyline crutch for a really cool shooter.
Point being, if you're after a hacking game, you won't really find it in Rez, but play it if you like shooters - it's visually similar in style to Darwinia in parts, especially the 'forested' areas in level 5.

Oh, I understood it was a joke - as was that first line of my post. I just really like Rez, and didn't want people to say "This sucks, it's not a hacker game", so I felt I should clear that up, just in case.
