Yep, here goes another question from the forum's resident n00b. It's time once again to make myself look stupid.

How the hell do I get on IRC? I have tried searching, but still my n00b attempts have failed. I type in #darwinia, or #introversion and it redirects me to http://localhost/#introversion and says it can't connect me to it. I type in anything involving the #, and I still get nothing for a result.

The forums don't seem to like this URL - copy/paste the whole next line into your browser:

Code: Select all

http://www.wikihow.com/Get-Started-with-IRC-(Internet-Relay-Chat)

You'll most likely have to add uplinkcorp manually to your client.

server: irc.uplinkcorp.net
port: 6667

(Edit: ...And if I'd thought about it for half a second, I probably would have thought of using the character codes... It was like 11:30 PM here, I was half asleep - bad nerd! XD)

I just had a quick question, I've been using my mac machine more often now, and am having trouble finding a IRC client for it, I prefer a browser based client, as this is a work machine for my new jog, and I dont want to start filling it with personal files/programs yet. I tried uplinkcorp.net and googling but had no luck. Does anyone out there know where I can find one that will work on a mac?

I highly recommend Colloquy for Mac users, but if you can't get that working I can give you access to my cgi-irc.

ShadowIRC! *ahem*

It's the best client I can find for my (OS9.1) Mac, but I wouldn't recommend it for OSX...
