Beta testers for my "garage game"?

The place to hang out and talk about totally anything general.

Beta testers for my "garage game"?

Postby GameMaker76 » Sat Apr 29, 2006 10:02 pm

I need to know what all you serious gamers think of the game right now:
(for those unfamiliar with the game, it's a game that plays just like Warcraft II but it's in your browser -- you can save and everything)

http://www.AgeOfPenguins.com

I'm trying to perfect it for a general release -- it's been in Beta for 3 weeks now -- but it's VERY solid and most beta testers have told me it's ready to go!

I'm kind of second guessing myself on the exact balance for the different units -- speed, strength, health, range, etc. there's so much to decide on.
That's why I'd like many people to check it out, and let me know how it plays.

Check your e-mail

I have a pretty quick turnaround time during the day -- it's only in the middle of the night you might have to wait until I wake up.

It's a Javascript game (totally different from Java, of course)

It uses DHTML and Javascript mostly, and Ajax for saving/loading game data to/from the server.

The website uses PHP.

it seemed like the server was pretty laggy and when you switched from one type of unit to a building or vice/versa it didnt want to change images and that was just what i noticed within a few minutes... i might give it another go tomorow

What speed internet connection do you have?
Also, what speed is your PC?

I haven't seen that problem even on a 1 GHz Celeron -- but the machine did have a high-speed connection.

Uh, yeah...no 'fense mate, but I'll stick to standalone C++ game clients.

I'll settle with scorch 2000 as my only browser game testing experience.
Was good, and wouldn't want to taint it.
