What type of NAT does your broadband router do?

The place to hang out and talk about totally anything general.

Hairpin means machines behind the NAT can communicate directly with each other without translation.

Strange little bug on mine.. it switches between Dependent mapping and Independent Filter... not sure why yet. port issues, perhaps?

My vote is for Dependent mapping, but I voted for Open (No NAT) by accident.

This topic would be much more helpfull if everyone would have provided the brand and model number of their NAT device. Im looking for a list of NAT device that supports media hairpinning and cant seem to find any on the internet.

The only one ive found is this :
http://www.croczilla.com/zap/rfcs/draft ... lts-01.txt

Mine is a LINKSYS WRT54GS v.2
Firmware Version : v4.70.6, May. 26, 2005

Nat with Independend Mapping and Port Dependent Filter - VoIP will work with STUN
Preserves port number
Does not supports hairpin of media
Public IP address: ***

Thank you

Defcon? Routers? Winstun?
Ya'll ever used "Shields Up"?

http://www.grc.com/default.htm

After Steve Gibson's company site was hacked by a D.O.S. he did us all a service.
The Sheilds Up link:
reports "43,912,167 system tests".

Whew! Networking can be complex.

IV is looking for statistics on what kind of connections people have, port forwarding capabilities, NATs, etc. They're not after how secure people's systems are.

Always use the right tool for the job. ShieldsUp! isn't it.
