I loved the Sims I thought it was an excellent game, and played it for ages. I don't think I ever killed a sim, I never had the heart.

I really liked Fable too. A beutiful world and a decent (if rather clichéd) story.

Radiobuzz wrote:Yes, killing them is definetly the best thing :).

(Wow that sounded bad)

... But it gets boring after a while.

It's true that woman are big fans of the Sims. And it makes sense. They love everything that's related with socials. That's why woman usually play with dolls and make tea parties, and that's why men usually play with army dolls. Woman just doesn't care about killing somebody just to feel superior or excercise their macho ego... since they don't have one.

PS: That's also why it was a woman who invented adventure games.
Wow! Have you ever met a woman?

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't this mutiplayer? You're not building the universe, you're building a planet, and maybe even an empire, against other people's races?

No, it's single player, although the game automatically downloads other peoples creatures and planets, they are driven by the automatically created AI.

I think it's called passive multiplayer.

Did you watch the same video that I did? I distinctly heard him say "asynchronous" several times.

It isn't multiplayer at all, WW makes this very clear several times during that video. When you make something in Spore, it gets uploaded to the Spore content server, which otherplayers can then download (probably automatically) so that said content can be used to fill out their planet/universe. Its not multiplayer in any sense of the word.

Anyway, I personally think Spore looks fantastic, but then its very close to a game I came up with a few years ago, so there you go. I also think that The Sims et al is one of the worst games ever created. How anyone gets any entertainment from it, I'll never know.

Radiobuzz wrote:Usually, Will Wright's games amuse me for the first five minutes and then they bore me to death. I really hope this game will not do that. But still, it really looks repetitive. Did you see how fast it takes to evolve and the game to be a strategy game?

You do realise that he was skipping large chunks of the game during the video, right?

Yes, but how big? In the "evolution" part, the only thing you have to do is to eat other creatures, and that doesn't appear to take much time.

The evolution part of the game could theoretically last as long as you want it to, since it doesnt end until you specifically evolve your creatures brain to the highest level. Even after that though, once you have your spaceship, you can evolve as many lifeforms as you want.

Typing "Girly porn" into google images doesn't count. ;)

I don't know either, but I know I spent more time on one City/Sim Family that I have on entire games like HL2 etc.

Yea... yea... I know they are different types of games... but you pay the same price, and I get to spend more time on any sim game.

I tend to like most game genres tho... sim/fps/rts/platform/puzzle same with music foo's/debussy/soulfly/narls barkly. :P

I wouldn't go that far. You are playing against creatures and civilizations created by other players. It's just a different type of multiplayer than we are used to. It's sort of similar to multiplayer in a turn based strategy game like Civilization IV.

I've always thought this would be a good idea for a game. Maxis did a lot of sim games that didn't really work as stand alone games (Sim Earth, Sim Life, etc). By combining a bunch of these games together you get a pretty interesting metagame.

Don't worry, that's not the kind of porn I'm into ;).
