n00b thread
Hi all, just a little thread to introduce myself. Maybe you have rules against this sort of thing here, in which case I apologize, but I didn't see them anywhere.
Anyway, I'm 19, male, a student in law and philosophy at the University of Paris, I love videogames even though I don't have much time anymore for them now that I'm in uni, and love "artistic" (for lack of a better term) games like the ones Introversion makes, and hope to have fun here.
To make this thread good for something: what game got you hooked on videogames? I would have to say Zelda on SNES. Spent my first sleepless night playing that game.

Hey Rotational and welcome to the IV community!
Glad to see you enjoy games that Introversion like, hopefully you have played both Uplink and Darwinia, and have bought one of them if not both. The next game Defcon is in development, so keep an eye out for news on that.
You'll find we can be a friendly community, I'm the resident asshole when it comes to telling n00bs to stop posting in the wrong place, which you haven't done by the way, it's what the lounge is for after all.
So once again welcome on board, take part in discussions, enjoy your stay, and avoid Luigi30, he's a rabid little monkey.

Hiya Rotational,
The flames bring warmth. . .
Weren't video games preceeded by computer games?
Oldest game I ever played was "Lunar Lander" on a PDP-11 terminal.
Wasn't run in real time, it was a simple calculus problem.
I got really hooked on a TRS-80 adventure game called "Bedlam".
Shortly thereafter, I got my paws on a 8086 Compaq lug-able and
played "Leather Goddesses of Phobos." I recall that it had more than a few
significant math-logic and map puzzles in it. Adult jokes too.
Interactive (real-time) video games came much later.
The FASA original Mech Warrior was great on a 386/25MHz but it got too slippery on a 486/66MHz.
Being just a type of "tank" game, I got seriously addicted.
Then Lucas Arts got EMS memory (lots of it) to do nice X-Wing flight SIMs (no rudder.)
I killed a few joysticks before MS's memory manager monopolized the PC.
My wife became a computer widow when Myst, in full MPC multimedia, struck.
I dunno why some gamers are alergic to challenging observation and thought puzzles.
Maybe that's why I could use a 12-step program to get me offfa THIS site.
