I'm starting to appreciate Bob Dylan.

oh, and xander: just because you have books at home doesn't mean you can't visit the library once in a while

Vista crashed over the weekend, quite annoying really. It brings the all-time record for longest period without re-install to 7 months. The previous record was 6 weeks.

I think I need help. When my dad bought my laptop (with my money) I specifically asked him to make sure he also got a windows xp 'downgrade' cd. He didn't. Instead he bought a copy of xp home. I have tried to install xp, but it just doesn't work. For some reason I refuses to believe that my hard drive exists. Has anyone got any ideas as to how i get xp working? I will ignore all 'just install linux' comments.

Just install Linux. ;)

But seriously, as far as I know XPH SP0 *should* see your disk, unless it's some form of RAID - I'm not the most knowledgable on the subject, but I thought both PATA and SATA were supported by base XP.

That they are. I don't have a clue why XP would fail to find a hard drive; but, since it's a laptop, anything I could suggest would be irrelevant or meaningless.

my laptop hd uses SATA. I know that xp works because it once detected the 'local hard drive' and i got it to format it. About halfway through I figured out why the disk was exactly the same size as my protable hard drive, oops!
windows vista is OEM, or something like that. The laptop i'm using is an ASUS F3 series, if that helps.
I have never tried installing linux, but i have used live cd's before, and they found the hard drive just fine. Couldn't write to them though, (blasted NTFS)

So, I'm leaving in not many more hours for my first Police entrance testing. This is for the Las Vegas PD, which is #2 on my list of Police departments I'd like to work for. I'm nervous as all get out, luckily Corrine lives in LV so I can visit her when I'm not testing.

Very much so, especially when playing with people you know.

That kind of depends of what you're doing. A more casual game on Normal can be fun. On higher difficulties the AI controlled survivors behaviour starts to work against them.

However, when no-one is around I prefer playing Versus, as there usually isn't so much pressure.

You HAVE to get L4D if you enjoy coorporative play, and don't worry about finding somebody to play with; there's always people on the internet. We're also a number of introversion community members that has the game and we've succesfully played at evenings a number of times. t'was fun.

Good luck with that! Sounds like the kind of job you'd do well at! :)

I want to make a kitty body warmer for Loki from a couple of rabbits and keep the ears to confuse local kitties and children
