Let's go.........RANDOM!

The place to hang out and talk about totally anything general.

Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

(As an aside, it took me a few years to realise the second part of that sentence is a double-joke)

And I've only just realised it thanks to you mentioning it (and I put a bunch of wordplay jokes into my prisoner's bio).

I can't figure out whether the fact that a U.S. federal government shutdown is possible is a great idea, or a particularly stupid one. It's certainly unique.

Can't it be both?

It's not that unique, but yeah. Weird. I do wish they'd stop labelling it with all this fancy "shutdown" terminology and just call it a temper tantrum though

That'd certainly make the news reports about it a lot more interesting.

Today my teachers made it quite clear how few fucks they give... as if it wasn't obvious enough.

*sigh*

It's sad really, I went back to college to try and learn something, but the longer I spend there the more convinced I am no-one is there to try and teach us, and I would learn a lot more by staying home and reading the recommended books. It would be a lot more productive and less stressful too.

In my naivete, I thought there were more to them than a money/time sink.

What am I doing with my life?

You're going into debt so your future employer knows you're willing to work a few years at something, hire you because you probably will accept getting paid less and also stay longer at the company.

Also the government shutdown.. National parks are closed by gating it up and posting 'guards' no wonder congresses approval rating is 10% .. A good portion of people that have never destroyed and repaired their egos are 'running..' the country..

Public educational system. The one year of work I did before deciding to go back to college is more than enough to pay the cost of a second degree. I have no debt whatsoever.

Universities are for research, not teaching. Dur. (I say that with only a very small touch of sarcasm, and a little bitterness---though not much of either, to be honest.)

What country are you in? 1 year to pay for a 2nd degree entirely is a nice sum of money in the Us. Living expenses included..

Portugal.

For the record, I pay about 1000€ a year in tuition fees. Conversely I won 980€ a month for the year I was working.
