There is an apple tree in our back yard that is very, very happy right now. Strong winds (35 mph sustained winds with 50+ mpg gusts in our area) combined with an overabundance of apples to tear one branch off of the tree. So I now have 7 pounds of under-ripe apples. I think I am going to make a pie.

Any ideas on how facebook friend suggestion algorithm works ? There are even people on my list that I have no common "friends" with, no prior phone / email communication whatsoever, but whom I know (or knew) IRL - in this respect those suggestions are few and precise. Couldn't find anything interesting with google.

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
Next week, I am moving to California in order to start work the Ph.D. program at UCR. Since I will be a grad student (again), I won't be making much money for a while (again), so we decided that Wendryn would not move down to Riverside until she found a job. When we made this decision, back in March, we thought it wouldn't be a problem, and that we would all be able to move at the same time. We underestimated the job market, and Wendryn won't actually be able to be with us. On the bright side, she was offered a *great* position this morning, which means that she will only be a week and a half behind us! Yay! I don't have to be a single parent for very much time! Yay!

About the "use" of "quotation" marks; am I the only one who "enjoys" to visualize Rachel Green flapping her "quote" fingers, marking the "irony" every single time somebody makes "use" of "quotes" in that "way"?
