In other news I just spent an hour using a robocopy mirror command for my music files to my new (read: old crappy computer re-boxed) htpc / file server running samba on the home network as a backup, forgetting that the files were on a bloody external HDD and I could have just carried it across the room...

Isn't saying "ahold" like saying "alot"?

No. No it is not.
Just for the record, Chrome's default spellchecking marks "ahold" as wrong.

On the other hand, "ahold" is a completely useless informal noun that might as well just be written as "a hold", being that that is its exact definition.

Nuh uh! The exact definition is "a hold or grasp."

Noun? You sure it isn't a preposition? :P

Based on the number of dictionaries that say it's a noun, I'll conclude that you raise an interesting question.

I've seen quite some language mutilation and horrible spelling practices in my years on the internet, but today my mind was truly blown. Never, never have I ever seen someone use the spelling "knowone". Until today.

Obviously xander had quite a lead on the ladder leaderboard when it died out about a year ago, but apparently in roughly a week he's raised the highest score by yet another 700 points. Ther worst part is there's not even that many games being played so I can't call him out on not having a life. :(

He trounced me about 4 times in a row last time I played. My ladder score is miserable (reflecting my played-won ration), but people with 6 games are in the top 100!

Also, in one of the first game I recently played against xander he car bombed me,. It triggered some primordial Multiwinia response. A ha! That old tactic.

But... I had totally forgotten how to car bomb. I knew it was possible, and was mashing keys to find which one...

Moreover, that trick is incredibly well hidden in these forums. There's a lot of discussion of the tactic, but only once or twice is it directly stated how to do it.

In searching for it I found myself earnestly discussing its merits. Right there, on the screen, was an archive of me, so full of knowledge. And yet I could not wrangle it out of the depths of my mind.

If only the rest of my memory was so efficient at forgetting obscure bits of information which I'll probably never have use for again...

Fuck the car bomb, what about the cool armour tricks? Like circle deploying. And, uh... circle deploying. And, uh, distracting the enemy from your MW hordes. And circle deploying.

  • Load armour with plague-infected DGs.
  • Direct armour to enemy spawns.
  • Unload armour.
  • ???
  • Profit!
