Wow. The influx of HB folks into #uplink has actually made Flamebot kind of useful again.

Never thought I'd see the day.

I just hope that will make interest into fixing old bugs and integrate dedicated servers... But odds are still low I guess.

That reminds me to bring my dedicated servers back up.

Hrm. Should I attempt to get my dedis back working again after all, or will it just fly over in a week anyway?

Bigger question: should I open the Ladder again?

There are probably more players now than at the original launch. So I'd say yes to both, unless bringing them back has gotten harder. For me, it was just restarting the processes.

Well activating the Ladder is easy, but currently it's not configured to accept matches from other servers and my own servers run into networking issues because of my complicated server setup. But you know what, I have some time tonight to work on random hobby projects, so I shall look into it.

Bert: do you still have the scripts for SCPing your matches? Mail me a public key and I shall create a user for you on the system to upload them. :)

PS: Crap, what am I getting myself into.

She tall, sexy, loves radiohead, hates melon, is going to be a theoretical physicist, loves Being John Malkovich, reads artistic foreign books, is highly intelligent, gorgeous and has illegal strength laser pointers. Not in my nerdiest fantasies could I have dreamt her up :D

Pardoning a turkey...

Because, you know, a legal system that kills people as a matter of course is a really funny thing to make a joke about...

We make jokes about it all the time. Gallows humor and all (though that's not necessarily death penalty humor).

Here's one:

Did you hear about the guy who got the chair for robbing a Kentucky Fried Chicken? They gave him his choice of sentence: regular of extra crispy.

Yaaaay Ladder servers up and running again. Damn my firewall was weird.

Now to see if the replay servers can be gotten to work.
