Good fucking god, just how much shit does a brand new laptop bring installed?
Seriously, I got a laptop last week for my mother, and I was looking into it now to essentially finish properly setting it up. At launch, with essentially factory settings, the bloody thing has over 90 processes running (by comparison, my heavy use desktop tends to have between 30-70 depending on how much shit it has installed). I can identify at least 7 tray icons with no business being there, and I suspect, with no hyperbole, that a full two thirds of everything currently installed is manufacturer specific software with dubious utility at best.
Honestly, I really should format this back to a truly clean slate, but don't actually feel like thralling the internet for all the drivers :/

Pre-installed software has gotten kind of ridiculous, I agree. It typically takes me a couple hours to clean most of the stuff off a new system.
As for reformatting, if you're running Windows Vista / 7, Windows Update does a pretty fine job of finding drivers for everything. The only thing I ever have to find by hand is video drivers.

This program comes to mind, works well to get rid of a lot of PC bloatware that comes pre-installed when purchasing a PC from a retailer (but sometimes, not all)
however, never as good as a clean install of a OS

A major Tea Party affiliated Republican being voted out, in what is one of the most conservative congressional districts in Arizona, in favor of a moderate. Ripples of this will be felt for a long way.

Because I know how much you guys love PETA!
PTROA (which happens to be Israel-based but that doesn't matter) is a lot more logical but not very active. https://www.ptroa.co.il/petition/
