I don't know if this is real or fake, although I suspect you cannot make this up, but I thought it to be funny as hell, fuck that shit is funny: http://i.imgur.com/sr8P2.jpg

Sadly, this is very easy to believe.

Could go either way.

On the one hand, "I can't afford <emergency necessity> because I'm saving for <frivolous shit>" is pretty damned easy to make up.
I'll make one up right now: "Hey, can anyone tell who will give me the cheapest electricity bills in my local area? I can just barely afford them right now and I want to save up for a new AC."

On the other, I've learned that common sense is an honest to goodness superpower and all the things that make you think "Surely someone couldn't do something that stupid" are going to disappoint you with their veracity. The specific example given might not be real but somebody out there has done it.

If god was playing a joke on us he should be laughing pretty hard at how confused he got us, quite genius

My advice to that girl would be. try to sell your baby, some people will pay for it and with the money you got from the sale buy a better smartphone then the Iphone.

So, like, the best summer of my life just kinda flew by.

Classes have now started again.

Saw the first episode of spartacus: blood and sand yesterday and thought it was 'Meh'. Storyline so far is good. Dialogue is rather bad. Too much slow motion in the action scenes and the blood effects are ridiculous. So it basically has story and boobs going for it. We'll see how many episodes it can keep me entertained with that.

It can't be that bad. For comparison in addition to meeting with my thesis advisor every Friday and working through a couple of papers every week, I'm taking Abstract Algebra, Real Analysis, and Algebraic Topology this semester, all while teaching two sections of remedial algebra and working with far too many lawyers to [redacted]. Today is a holiday, and I'm in the office.

zjoere: That show really only has two good things going for it. The first is Lucy Lawless' right breast, and the second is Lucy Lawless' left breast.

Hey, beats not going to school chillin'h and staying dumb right?

Spartacus was lame, too many crap series on TV, why not pool all money spent on bad series together, make a few really good ones have less air time let people watch less television let them be influenced by marketing less.. Whadayouknow? All good things about my idea..

Except.. fuck, it won't generate enough money.

It really isn't. In fact this semester I'm doing my minor which I've decided to do in philosophy, and I have no clue what to expect of that so it should be interesting. Also Functional Programming this quarter, and taking on new paradigms also seems fun. Plus I'm finally back to my normal day job with fun colleagues, ready to dedicate more time to my standard associations etc. I mean, I like where my life is at the moment and it's great fun.

The issue is that my summer was so much better. Couple of long and very active weekends (4th Graspop, 1st Wacken, Ardennes 'survival' vacation with friends) and a couple of weeks of hard work (2nd time working at Lowlands for a full week, and then the first time working on the Uni introduction/orientation period for two full weeks). I still have this lingering daze over me that desperately wants it to continue, and it's kind of annoying that it's run into the giant brick wall called 'end of holiday'. What didn't help was that the last (and possibly the best) part, the Uni intro, basically works towards the start of the academic year by design: a reminder I really could've done without popping up in the back of my mind all the time.

At least the good part is that I walk by the office of the intro organization pretty much daily since it's on my route towards both my work and the association I'm currently on the board of, so at least I'll still often run into the people that made it so great.

And yes, it's been non-stop running around and especially towards the end lots of physical labour, and yes, I call that a holiday. Awesome teamwork and big results, it doesn't get much better than that. ;)

Example of tl;dr post? ;p (see previous comment directed at jelco)

For a decent TV series, see The Walking Dead, coming back in October.

My classes don't start again until September, but I'm at University, we get longer holidays than school-kids. Hehe.

Sadly, though, I've been working on my final year project most of the parts of the summer I haven't been spending sick.

Going to a hardstyle festival dressed in metal clothing turned out to be interesting. Especially when the festival is in Germany and you're wearing a Wacken shirt (a festival every German seems to know about) which resulted in quite some shout-outs; some people told me they too had been there or wanted to go (yay I'm not the only one with such a broad musical taste), others jokingly told me I was probably lost etc. Everyone seemed to be cool about it, so no-one went stereotypical hardcore on me. :)

Not even when I was windmilling my close-to-ass-height-long hair to 200 BPM hardcore.
