A friend of mine's 360 scratched discs on a pretty regular basis. He went through several copies of Halo 3, if I remember. His is the only one I know of that has had the problem, and he's had it for quite a while. Microsoft keep sneakily modifying and upgrading the hardware all the time -- mostly, they change disc drives in order to try and stay ahead of modchip manufacturers -- so it's unlikely a new 360 will scratch stuff.ynbniar wrote:The 360 got a rough ride on BBC Watchdog program tonight...scratching discs due to rather slight vibrations, MS claiming user error. Seems there are some legal actions in the USA and also some EU mandarins getting upset.
Anyone here had that problem...I only ask as I may still yet delve into the console market at some point.
Also, I think their red ring of death problem is finally fading (touch wood). The general consensus is that recent models have had vastly improved cooling. Mine seems pretty chilly, so hopefully I should be safe

CALLING ALL LINUX USERS - HELP ME
I was persuaded to install openSUSE 11.1 by one of my friends. I have done so, but I think when he was fiddling with it, he got rid of the Network Manager. Now I can't connect to my school's wireless because I cant find the bloody network manager. Someone else suggested turning it on in sessions, but apparently it's allready there. Can anyone help me fix the problem. I'm using gnome if it helps.

Not that bad a machine, could do with a few tweaks here and there. When I'm not dizzy from the painkillers I'll have a rummage around for you if you like.
Also yay for being at home. Still have bloody tube in spine, but back in comfy bed at least.

Heres the quote.
E5200 2.5
GA-G31M Motherboard
800mghz ram 1gb
galaxy 9600 GT (HDD and one optical included + case)
For around 800$ (includes labour I don't want to risk putting it together.)
Does that seriously say 1gb ram? I didn't know it was possible to get it economically in such small quantities any more
I highly suggest 2gb of ram. Also, at least on the price lists I use the 9800GT can be found for ~$40 more than the 9600GT, and it's a lot, lot faster.
