No, ксандер is appropriate. It is a shortening of Alexander, i.e. Александр. If anything, Сандр would be a more appropriate spelling, but I think it sounds better with the к at the front. Also, how the hell did you find that quote? How far back is it?

How long do they keep Chimay in the barrel before bottling? I've had a few 'sour' beers before at some of the local brew festivals and they're pretty interesting..

Ahh the Chimay red isn't a flemish red.. So probably around a month or 2 for the initial brew.. and isn't sour..

Were I to drink, then I would probably choose the one with the largest bottle. One beer isn't a lot to sustain you for life, so I'd go for quantity.
